Norbert Gleicher, MD, FACOG, FACS
Medical Director and Chief Scientist
Founded CHR, leads clinical care and research, and has published extensively in reproductive medicine.
Over decades, Dr. Gleicher has made seminal contributions to the understanding of ovarian aging, diminished ovarian reserve, reproductive immunology, and infertility in women previously considered to have poor or futile prognosis. He has authored or co-authored over 500 peer-reviewed scientific publications and inumerable book chapters and continues to lead CHR’s clinical innovation and research programs. His work has influenced evidence-based fertility practice and reframed treatment paradigms for women with advanced reproductive age and low ovarian reserve.
David Barad, MD, MS, FACOG
Director of Clinical ART and Senior Scientist
Oversees clinical-assisted reproductive technologies and conducts significant research in reproductive endocrinology.
Dr. Barad serves as Clinical Director of the ART Program at the Center for Human Reproduction, where he provides strategic leadership for clinical practice, outcomes analysis, and research integration. He is internationally recognized for his contributions to reproductive endocrinology and large-scale outcomes research. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University and his fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School.
Over decades, Dr. Barad has been a leading figure in the analysis and interpretation of reproductive health outcomes, including serving as a co-investigator in the Women’s Health Initiative. His scholarship spans ovarian aging, diminished ovarian reserve, reproductive immunology, and IVF outcomes, with particular emphasis on rigorous biostatistical evaluation and critical appraisal of reproductive technologies. Central to his work is a commitment to personalized, patient-centered fertility care, integrating data-driven insights with individualized clinical decision-making to optimize outcomes for women with reduced reproductive potential.
Sonia Gayete-Lafuente, MD, PhD
Physician Scientist and Director of Medical Education
Dr. Sonia Gayete-Lafuente is a Fertility Specialist and Director of Medical Education at the Center for Human Reproduction (CHR), with international training in Europe and the United States. Holding dual MD and PhD degrees, she completed her OB-GYN and subspecialty training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility in Barcelona, Spain, and her advanced fellowships at Yale University School of Medicine, U.S., focusing on fertility preservation, ovarian insufficiency, and complex endocrine conditions. She later joined CHR and the Foundation for Reproductive Medicine as a Physician-Scientist Fellow and is currently an Attending at the CHR, contributing to translational research in ovarian aging, androgen and immune endocrinology, and IVF outcomes, along with clinical care.
Dr. Gayete-Lafuente is widely published in peer-reviewed journals and actively engaged as a scientific reviewer and lecturer, integrating cutting-edge evidence with a holistic clinical approach. As a female physician-scientist with a global background, she brings a strong advocacy-driven perspective to women’s health and fertility care.
