Excessive Embryo Banking Significantly Inflates IVF Success Rates

Some IVF centers’ IVF success rates, particularly for older women over 40, may be significantly inflated if the IVF center pushes a large number of older patients into embryo banking cycles, rather than transferring embryos in fresh IVF cycles. Patients should be careful when choosing IVF centers based on the success rates published by SART and CDC, because excessive embryo banking may be inflating the reported success rates by as much as 50%. Dr. Kushnir, lead author of the study, explains these findings, published in the journal PLoS ONE.
