Making IVF easier and safer: CHR's remote fertility treatment capabilities

Making IVF easier and safer: CHR's remote fertility treatment capabilities

CHR's "telemedicine" system that eases the burden of long-distance fertility treatment. With the COVID-19 outbreak, this long-standing system has started providing additional safety layer to our patients and staff.

Coronavirus outbreak highlights the benefits of CHR's remote care capabilities--over a decade in the making--to advise patients and manage individualized fertility treatments with minimum need for office visits in NYC. CHR offers phone and Skype consultations, as well as online Second Opinion Program to patients who want to do what they can to move their fertility journey forward without endangering health and safety for themselves, as well as those around them. Contact us here to learn more, or get started on the Second Opinion Program.

CHR is an IVF center specializing in difficult cases of infertility that most other fertility centers in the world are not willing or able to take on. As a result, we treat a large number of patients who seek our expertise from all over the world. In fact, over the last 10-15 years, the share of long-distance patients under our care has been steadily at around 50% or more.

Over the years, our physicians, clinical coordinators and administrative staff have perfected the "art of telemedicine" even before the term became popular. CHR's system, described in the flowchart above, minimizes the need for travel and office visits in our NYC office. This has made IVF easier for _all _patients, while ensuring that each one of our patients receives the best individualized fertility treatment throughout their journey.

With the worldwide outbreak of COVID-19, the safety and public health benefit of this system has come into even sharper focus:

  1. All of our patients, including local NYC patients, can take advantage of phone or Skype consultation, which eliminates the need to travel to CHR and share space with other patients and staff. We are strongly encouraging phone or Skype consultations to all patients, in an effort to minimize the chance of infection.
  2. Despite increasing travel restrictions, many international patients are still receiving care from CHR's expert fertility physicians through consultations, analyses of local test results and reviews of local monitoring results, etc.
  3. Long-distance patients have also utilized CHR's online Fertility Second Opinion Program for a long time. This is another option that may be attractive for patients.

At the time of writing on March 13, 2020, CHR is open, fully staffed and operational, and we will do our best to remain available to fertility patients, particularly since most of our patients have low--and declining--ovarian reserve with not a lot of time to waste. However, this is obviously a rapidly developing situation. As things evolve, we will keep our patients informed, but please feel free to contact us at 212-994-4400 if you have any questions or concerns about your treatment.
