February CHR VOICE Digest

February CHR VOICE Digest

Based on feedback from our readers, each month we will be highlighting what we consider the most important news for fertility patients and professionals working in the field. Do you have a topic you would love covered in next month’s VOICE? We would love to hear your feedback by emailing ldellere@thechr.com

In this months CHR VOICE, we cover:

Travel rules for long distance patients

National data suggest that the current COVID-19 wave in the U.S. is quickly abating (for more on this subject, later in this issue of THE VOICE). In parallel, New York and other states, including California, have announced the impending lifting of many restrictions, hopefully denoting a small first step toward normalization of life in the nation. At the same time, new concerns have arisen, with discovery of mutated strains of the SARS-CoV-2 virus with apparently more efficient contagion and, possibly, also higher disease severity (i.e., mortality).

For CHR this means that the center will, for the foreseeable future, continue the status quo in how patient care is provided. We have seen an almost full recovery in the ability to travel among our domestic long-distance patients. The same applies to our Canadian patients, though they may require a letter of “medical necessity” from CHR; but our overseas patients, still, experience significant difficulties and conditions vary between countries of origin. In many countries, a letter of “medical necessity,” allows patients to obtain a special medical visa from a U.S consulate. New worldwide travel restrictions to the U.S., in addition, require a negative PCR test for the virus within three days of travel.

Long-distance patients who have questions about their travel to CHR and/or need help in making travel arrangements to and/or hotel reservations in New York City (many hotels are still closed), please speak to your coordinator at CHR. If you are not yet a CHR patients and have questions, please call our hot line at 1-212-994-4400 or e-mail us at registration@thechr.com
